We are a family of 4 who recently flew to COSTA RICA on3/19/2016 from Akron to Charlotte flight 5240 ,departure 11:50.Our flight was late and despite arriving before the doors were closed ,our tickets were sold(AA 2059).We missed the connecting flight in Miami to San Jose and we had to spend the night in Miami.

Our names are Mirela Rossi, Seyed ,Darius and Nadia Mirfendereski.

Despite arriving before the doors closed ,the delay was not our fault ,we were still not able to board.

We missed a day of our much anticipated vacation including a visit to the PAOS volcano .

Product or Service Mentioned: American Airlines Flight 5240.

Reason of review: missed day of vacation.

I didn't like: Lack of help resolving issues.

The problem is that you scheduled your flights so close, that everything had to go right for you to make it to San Jose. You took American Flights:

Flight 5240 Akron to Charlotte depart 11:59 am arrive 1:32 pm

Flight 2059 Charlotte to Miami depart 2:20 pm arrive 4:19 pm

Flight 1031 Miami to San Jose depart 6:05 pm arrive 7:04 pm.

Even if flight 5240 was on time, [it could not have been more than a few minutes late anyway], you would have had at most 30 minutes to reach the next flight before doors were shut.

There is simply no slack in your reservation for any problems because you chose the last possible flights.

You could have gone American Flights: Flight 5108 Akron to Charlotte depart 9:14 am arrive 10:48 am Flight 2044 Charlotte to Miami depart 1:20 am arrive 3:38 pm Then flight 1031 Miami to San Jose departing 6:05 pm This would have allowed you to take the next flight from either Akron or Charlotte and still make your international flight.

That is why it is important to allow more times on multi-flight trips.

What makes you think it is their fault the flights were so closely scheduled? If the airline reservation system allowed it then it is not the fault of the passenger.
